Hey how you all doing? I am a 47 year old guy fighting prostatitis for only 3 months but not sure i have a good uroligist. It all started around febuary 2011 when i noticed i was going to the toilet more to pass urine and had rectal pain on moving my bowels. I put this down to drinking more water during my get fit post christmas campaign. One night in May i had stinging in the tip of the penis so went to the doctors. He told me after a DRE i had an enlarged prostate and put me on tamsulosin 40mg. After a week i was no better so went back to the doctors who added fenasteride 5mg to the tamsulosin. Another week later still not feeling well i went back to my doctors and insisted on a referal to a specialist which he did. A week later i see the urologist who does another DRE and tells me i do not have a enlarged prostate and that he wanted to do a Cystoscope which was done 5 days later. Following this he told me i have inflammation of the prostate and put me on Ciprofloxacin 250mg twice a day. After 5 weeks i had a reaction to the Cipro so he has now put me on trimethoprim 100mg once daily. I notice people on here are taking stronger doses. My symptoms are a constant need to use the toilet (around 30 times a day), pain in the tip of my penis and testicles, back pain, and slight pelvic pain,.any comments would be helpful! Thanks

    Andy,

Did you ever have a culture done? What did it show? Have you ever had nonspecific urethritis? Urethral discharge? How about trauma?
