Prostatitis Forum & Social Network

Acute and chronic prostatitis discussion. Arnon Krongrad, MD, moderator.

Hi everyone, I've just received the news from the Urology department at a sexual health clinic that I have lactose fermenting colyforms in my semen, following a recent semen culture analysis. They say these are most likely being produced by an inflammation of the prostate, and have prescribed Citrofloxacin, a more powerful version of Ofloxacin.

I've been suffering from prostate pain for over a year (not sure if it's prostatitis or CPPS), and also had a case of enterococcus several months ago, which were neutralised by the previous 4-week course of Ofloxacin that I was prescribed. Does anyone have experience of lactose fermenting colyforms? What are the best treatment options, and how long is the condition likely to last? Many thanks for any help, everyone.
