Acute and chronic prostatitis discussion. Arnon Krongrad, MD, moderator.

Hi Everyone, and thank you to the admin team for accepting my application to join this forum.

I am 32 years old and have had prostatitis for two years now. My brief background:

I had burning pains in my bottom for a few months followed by pain when ejaculating. A few days later I had blood in my semen and from that days have never had clear semen. I have also passed small calcifications during my time with this illness and experience the usual symptoms like soreness in the prostate, fatigue, lower back pain etc.

I have has MRI's, bladders test, semen and urine cultures and other than some enterococcus that was cultured early on (after 3 months of the illness) no other bacteria has been cultured.

In any event, I have prostatitis and have experience the frustrations of not being able to find anyone with the answers - as have most of us.

I am reading with interest the various doctors in the US, Canada, UK and even china that are having successes with various treatments, though I am yet to find anyone in Australia that has experienced full recovery through treatments sort in this country.

So my question is, has any ever been successfully treated in Australia or does anyone know who I can see that will acknowledge and treat this illness?

I haven't been able to find anyone in Australia offering treatments such as injection therapy or even massage.

I am at the stage where I need my life back. I am constantly fatigued and suffer severe pains at times.

Here is a more detailed list of what treatment I have received and their effect.

1. I have been on and off cipro. Taking cipro settles my symptoms. Going off cipro the blood returns to my semen and I get very ill and fatigued.

2. ejaculating once daily eventually leads to exacerbated symptoms.

3. I have mixed massage in when on cipro and this seems to settle my symptoms but doesn't rid me of the infection entirely, and it re-occurs.

Any assitance would be greatly appreciated.
