Acute and chronic prostatitis discussion. Arnon Krongrad, MD, moderator.

What causes the gland to inflame? Pathogens? Men have daily injections of antibotics for a month and still have prostatitis? Could it be auto autoimmune?

Let's be clear: inflammation is a pathological term. It means the pathologist sees inflammatory cells, also knows as white blood cells. Prostate is inflammation is very common, including in men without any symptoms. So pathological inflammation is not synomymous with prostatitis.
