In many cases, it's impossible to know why symptoms begin. In others, the causes seem clear. The discussions here will examine factors that mark a higher risk of prostatitis and ask if any of these risk factors actually cause it.
This is one for Dr Krongrad. Do you do any type of examination of a removed prostate? If so, do you notice if they are congested with just blood or lymphatic fluid etc? i am curious because after doing prostate massages before. I noticed the swelling would return immediately. The feeling was as if something was backing up into the prostate.
Arnon Krongrad, MD
Surgical specimens are submitted for routine pathological inspections. Generally speaking, routine pathological inspection does not reveal a pattern in the prostatitis prostates that would histologically distinguish them from other prostates, i.e. prostates removed from men who have no symptoms. Periodically, we do see findings that seem odd, as in this case, but these are exceptional and interpreting what they mean is impossible.
