Candida is a fungus. We all have it on us. It tends to be pathological in one of two settings: 1) Lowered bacterial counts, as happens with prolonged use of antibiotics, and 2) Compromised immune systems, as can happen in such illnesses as AIDS.

 

Fungi certainly can cause problems in the prostate. As one recognition of this, see this story of prostate injections, which included anti-fungal medication.
