began with an UTI in Dec. 2009, i did recover partially, but always felt the lower abdominal and back pain. Symptoms began again in mid July 2010, urinary pain emerged en mid August. Was given sulfameth for a month now change to cipro. today after a month on ant. I felt like going back to square 1. Still waiting for results.
Update: Had a biopsy on Feb. 2011 Findings: Benign tissue and mild chronic prostatitis. In August 2011 had TURP performed in Raleigh. Results: urinary flow is definitely better. After recovery I still feel sore in lower abdomen; groins and legs. No "golf ball" sensation. DRE confirmed that prostate is not swollen or enlarged.

Just finished the 10 session treatment with dr Polacheck from Tucson AZ. The treatment seems fairly simple and effective: lab work to find bacteria (they found Streptococcus Mitis +2 and Staph +1). After a week of lab work and massages, dr. gave me antibiotics (Cefdinir and Azithromycin). We also spent quite a bit of time on education. Dr. Polacheck seems like an "old fashion" doc with quite a bit of wisdom based on the practice of seen hundreds of patients with prostatitis. I also had a chance to tour and climb some mountains in the Tucson area. Mauricio Chenlo
"lower abdominal pain; lower back pain; painful urination/ejaculation; golf ball pressure. The main effect of the massages (which I began at home before going to Tucson) was the reduction of the size of the prostate, which it had all kind of benefits: better urinary flow; almost normal erections; lack of of golf ball effect."
