Profile Information

If you have been diagnosed with prostatitis, please tell us your story: age, duration of symptoms, treatments, results, and the like.
I'm a 59 year old male with chronic prostatitis, so am hoping to gain some information that will help me cope with this awful condition. I have been to numerous doctors and not had any good results. My biggest concern is the burning under the testicles in the perinium area after urination. Sitting is extremelly uncomfortable. I also have pain and burning after ejaculation. The condition started in late January of this year. It came on with a vengeance; a horrid urinary tract infection, accompanied by blood in the urine, fever, shaking, chills, etc. I went to urgent care for immediate help. I was given a 10-day course of Cipro. It helped me immediately with the burning after urination, but then after I finished that course, the burning came back and I've been doggedly seeking help to rid myself of this discomfort. I have had an ultrasound of my testicles and a cycstoscopy; nothing turned up; urine tested negative for any infections. Two urologists say that my prostate is normal (2.1) and nothing wrong (except inflammation and that I have prostatitis). No cancer to report. As of this past Friday, I had been on Cipro for 30 days and took my last dose. For two weeks, I took Flomax; prior to that, Doxyclycline Monohydrate (for two weeks); Bactim for one week; Rapaflo for two weeks; uribel on and off as needed for the pain (which really didn't help). In the meantime, I take Aleve and ibuprofen for inflammation, which barely touches the problem. My last urologist told me to do stretches (but didn't demonstrate or give me any brochures to follow ! ). Quite honestly, as with my first urologist, I don't think he knows how to help me with this. As of today, I am trying the natural products I've tried are
cranberry tablets (which made my urine burn worse ! ) I'm now taking Vitalogic's Anti-Inflammatory Formula (has enzymes, herbs & antioxidants), and Natren Healthy Trinity (a probiotic), quercitin with bromelain and Life Extension Ultra Natural Prostate with 5-Loxin and Standardized Lignans. I take as much as 8 ibuprofens @200 mg each. I find that this does not really help. I am hoping that the natural products help me out. If anyone out there has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate hearing back from you.
