My LRP for Prostatitis, another story with a happy end!!

Hi Everybody,

First of all i would like wish you a Happy New Year, full of health, happiness and well-being; and of course thank to you again for your support and help. Today is exactly 29 days after my surgery and like i promess im writing to share it with all of you:

The big and great new is that i can sit again, slowly, not so suddenly, but sitting again; in fact im writing this mail enjoymg that feeling!! All the symptoms disappear, and the pain remaining for the wounds had been slowly decreasing; actually im not taking pain killers to control it.

Some times i experience some disconfort directly related with the interaction between my digestive system and the wound, but with a properly diet i had been controling it.
The cold is still afecting me and makes me go to the bathroom around every 45 minutes, but im fighting it with properly and warm clothes; when is hot, i mean the temperature at home, i feel normal and even can keep the urine a couple of hours without any special effort.

The very first week after the cateter was removed i was bleeding strongly, and was very concerned, but how the Doc tolds me, that is normal and the blood in the urine actually dissappear. I have no leaks at all and my erections are normals, im not really having too much sex, but the times that i tried everything looks pretty good; and obviously im strictly making the exercises to keep the urinary control several times at day.

Better, simply better, really a new life, thats the great and only point!!!...no words can express my gratitude to Mr. Eden for his great job, to Mr. Kongrad for his valuable information and the rest of all for the good wishes and help.

Thats my happy end for a painfull story of prostatitis (all the details about my case, can be checked in the forums)...Good energy and best regards for every body.

German Velasco

CAUTION: I HAVE TO ADD THAT THE RECOVERING PROCESS AFTER THE SURGERY IS NOT EASY AT ALL, IS PAINFULL AND YOU CAN EXPERIENCE A LOT OF DISCOMFORT.

YOU HAVE TO BE REALLY MENTALLY PREPARED , BECAUSE THAT 4 OR 6 WEEKS LATER ARE JUST A CHALLENGE AND YOU CANNOT PRETEND DANCE AND RUN THE VERY NEXT DAY..... THIS IS THE HIGH PRICE TO RECOVER YOUR HEALTH TROUGH A RADICAL SOLUTION, THEN PLEASE BE AWARE OF THAT IF YOU ARE PRETTY SURE TO GOT THE SURGERY.

Congratulations German-absolutely fantastic news and may your recovery continue. I am sure in a couple of months you will be totally pain free. You will give a lot of guys hope with your news. You will now never get prostate cancer or BPH. Have a great life buddy & I hope you can stick around a bit longer to keep us updated on the final part of your recovery.
congrats german!!!! I am very happy for you. Thank you for your honest post.. Keep us posted as your recovery progresses.
Thanks for your posting. Given your comment about now being able to sit I am assuming that prior to the surgery you had a lot of pain if you sat. I do as well. Can you tell me what your other symptoms were?

Thanks.
Hi Max, all the details about the Prostatitis that i was suffering are consigned on the discussion PROSTATE REMOVAL in the Forum, i extracted this post to give you a general idea; but i think that reading all the discussion can help you even more. Best regards and good energy. G

"....I had been reading t interesting discussion about t issue, but i have some questions (for any body with t enough experience to answer them) that already mades to my urologist without a properly answer, let get introduce my situation before:

33 years old, 2 years now with prostatitis, which one?.. thats t question, the esential one.

All t test negatives, any doctor takes a sample of my prostatical fluids.. even i didnt know that can makes a difference in t diagnosis, my urologists (a couple of them) told me that this test is irrelevant because reports poor accuracy.... and is enough with a sample of semen; but even that's not reliable because the bacterias some times are not so easy to discover in such a young people (i had chlamydia 5 years before).

Well in general Perineal pain, urinary congestion, discomfort after or before the sexual intercourses and the cold literally kills me (winter is a nightmare), i cannot seat (anywhere) and in the job im using somekind of 'donut' to works more or less comfortable.

- Rectal tacts shows that i have a tender prostate.
- Negative urine and semen cultives.
- PSA in the norm.
- USG transrectal: Prostate gland a little enlarged, smooth, very painful during examination with some calcifications around the urethra.

Prescribed with antibiotics CIPRONEX several times (the longest period 90 days) they were working well enough, but when finished the pain strikes back again, with t urinary congestion not always work, then i had been using alfa blockers and pain killers (aspirin, ibuprofen forte) and of course herbs (cat claw, saw palmito, sabalis serrulatae/ betasistosterol, polen)... that gaves me a little of relief... but temporary and really small; actually its getting worse.

Diagnosis....NONE!! (or yeah FRUSTRATED and DEPRESSED) One doctor say Non bacterial prostatitis, the other one Prostatodynia, the third one doesnt know... in the index of prostate i have 35 points (thats mean really F...!) then t questions are:

1.What is it, none bacterial prostatitis or prostatidynia? ....if its prostatodynia why the antibiotics help me? (less with t time, obviously for t resistance developed).

2. Why i cannot sit?, Why the cold affect me so much? ...can the prostate removal helps me with that ? (Of course i know t risks.)

3. Even in the case of prostatodynia or pelvic pain syndrom (...whatever), can the surgery helps me or can happens that t pain remains? (or its no evidence at all?)....."
Where you chronically constipated prior the surgery? Did you have hemorrhoids too?

I hope all your pain is gone. Where you able to achieve and orgasm?
Mark no hemorroids at all, but i was fighting strong against the constipation after the surgery, because was really giving me troubles with the internal wounds. Excuse me for dont answer before, but i had been quite bussy this month. In general im more than well, the pain completely disappear, no troubles at all with my erections.. and when i becomes more active in the last days of january i was experiencing a really small leak, that for today dissappear.. thats all.

I hope helps you,

Good energy, German
Thanks for dropping in German. Its great to hear your doing so well. I am not surprised you had a tiny leak with physical activity. This is normal in the first few months and is unlikely to continue for long if at all, judging from the speed of your recovery. Interestingly, I was reading about one of Dr Krongrad's cancer patients:

http://www.laprp.com/patients_speak_detail.php?aid=9&type=8&...

He had the familiar dripping after urination most of us prostatitis sufferers have (Maybe due to BPH?), and after his LRP it stopped. I am just wondering if its possible that the prostatitis drip is caused by inflammation preventing the sphincter closing with enough force initially after urination. This would certainly contribute to that explanation..!!

. Dr Bahn confirmed this to me a few months ago. He explained that the sphincter can not close properly when the prostate is inflamed. This can cause leaks after urination. Urine dribble was my first ever symptom. Even on days when i feel pretty good, heavy after dribble is always present. If I take strong anti inflmatory herbs or meds the dribble diminishes. Yet the meds cause other worse symptoms so i never stay on them..
Makes perfect sense mike. It may also help to explain, other than age (Radford in his 50's, instantly continent), why so far the prostatitis guys who have had LRP, seem to be continent almost immediately. Their sphincter muscles are naturally strong, having had to fight against the inflammation induced dripping, for years prior to surgery. Just my 2 cents worth..!!

There are no data demonstrating rapid recovery of continence in men with prostatitis having LRP. Indeed, I am not sure that Radford had immediate continence; I would have to query. Moreover, Merlin, whose story is linked on the home page, definitely took a few months to recover continence.

In general, not that we understand what explains the distribution of continence outcomes after prostatectomy, it would appear that continence is inversely associated with age. It seems also to be associated with sphincter length. Given that we cannot alter our year of birth or our anatomical dimensions, it would appear that continence recovery is to some extent beyond our control.

We are all pleased that men recover quickly. At the same time, we need to be very careful about implying that most men will. Caution is the watchword of the day.
Dr k
When you think about all the men that you performed lpr on who were in there 30s, would you say at some point they have all become fully continent?
"Fully" is hard to define. After all, there is a reason many of us wear underwear.

That purist note aside, the answer is yes.
