"Morganella is normally found in the intestinal track, along with numerous other bacteria. In some cases, it can be pathogenic. So the question is whether or not this Morganella has anything at all to do with the symptoms or whether or not it's…"

Prostate massage sample grew 'Morganella' Bacteria

Hi there, I've been suffering from prostatitis for a year now. I've recently had a prostate massage which grew a bacteria called Morganella. My urologist has recommended a six week dose of antibiotic Cotrimoxazole (and says Cipro also effective, but already been on that to no avail). Is anyone else battling this bacteria or have any advice regarding antibiotics? Any input whatsoever is much appreciated. ChrisSee More

"That link throws in a pretty long list of symptoms. It's not clear how any of these connect or what this has to do with prostatitis. Dry mouth, as one example, is not a symptom of prostatitis. So again, a laundry list of things that make people…"

"Hi, many thanks for the reply. I got the yeast / pelvic link from this website: www.prostatitis.org/fungus.html It says the science is not fully worked out yet and it may be untrue but it there is a lot here which rings true for me. I…"

"Yeast are everywhere. They can easily contaminate your mouth and the cup you spit into. So how does one distinguish a clinical infection from just a contaminant? And how does finding yeast in a cup with spit provide any clues regarding scrotal and…"

Yeast / Candida Cause?

Hi there, new to the site. I started off with epididymitis which was mis-diagnosed for 5 weeks prior to relief with doxcycline. Immediately after I experienced prostate problems which have been with me for 3 months now. 6 weeks of Ciproflaxin did minimal to help. I'd say I have all the classic prostatitis symptoms and also the following:   - A constant shiny surround around my urethra (no urine, just a constant coating which doesnt accumulate)   - Occasional sore lymph nodes (mainly armpits,…See More

Risk Factors and Causes

In many cases, it's impossible to know why symptoms begin. In others, the causes seem clear. The discussions here will examine factors that mark a higher risk of prostatitis and ask if any of these risk factors actually cause it.See More

If you have been diagnosed with prostatitis, please tell us your story: age, duration of symptoms, treatments, results, and the like.
Began with epididymitus which was mis-diagnosed for 5 weeks prior to treatment with doxcycline. Symptoms of testicle pain, prostate pain when I needed a bowel movement, night sweats, feeling hot and sweaty, pain in the perineum. Sore testicles went away after 2 weeks of doxcycline. Then began to get prostatitis. Symptoms: pain in the prostate (tender with examination), pain sitting, pain in thighs, groin also armpit and neck pain in lymph nodes. Pain subsided after 6 weeks of ciproflaxin however now have CPPS as diagnosed by urologist. All standard symptoms listed frequently in websites however a couple of more unusual ones: pain in armpits and neck frequently. White tongue in the morning, dry mouth, bad breathe, , constipation, delay in precum during sexual activity. Took two weeks of alpha blockers, perhaps they helped a little. Did the spit test for candida infection due to my white tongue in the morning, came up with classic positive result. I am going to ask my urologist for anti fungal tablets, and change my diet drastically. Still get reocurring epididymitis which last a couple of days. (all urine, semen, urethra slide swabs tests have been negative for bactrial from day one. Uultrasound showed normal prostate, but small epididal cyst).
