"Hey Blake, How are things going? I have a story somewhat similar to yours but not quite as severe it seems. I would like to comment on a few things... I also have the erectile difficulties. They seemed to start a few months before I started to…"

If you have been diagnosed with prostatitis, please tell us your story: age, duration of symptoms, treatments, results, and the like.
First related symptoms were a random UTI in 2009, a couple months after my first sexual encounter. Negative chlamydia/gonnorhea test, positive white blood cell test. 7 days of antibiotic ( can't remember which ) cleared it. 2 years later over the course of a month developed painful urination, testicular pain, frequency, and finally the last straw was the sphincter swelling ( feeling of a golf ball lodged ). Took Cipro for about 5 weeks total. Had some secondary symptoms so stopped it. After about five days the symptoms substantially improved, however there was still some waxing and waning of sphincter tightness and dysuria. This went on for some time but seemed to be improving gradually. Then about 6 months after this I developed what I later found out to be Mono! Woo! I had a wide range of systemic symptoms from this including joint pain, swollen lymph nodes, rash etc... I also noticed a dramatic flare up in prostatitis symptoms at this point, the pain came back, the pus in semen, and I also noticed periodic cloudy urine; It would last for a day or two then go away. I took 3 weeks of TMP-SMZ at this point but did not notice really any improvement so I stopped. My mono symptoms gradually tapered off over the next few months and I noticed the prostatitis symptoms tapering off. At this point I am experiencing mild flare ups every few months with occasional cloudy urine.
