"Hi Ike, How have you been since the surgery? I have seen most of your posts, but I am curious if anything has changed? Thank you, and I hope you are well! BTW, I see you live in MD. I actually grew up in Laurel, not too far from you! Mike"

SIX MONTHS AFTER LRP SURGERY FOR CHRONIC PROSTATITIS

Today July 29, 2009 made it exactly six months I had LRP procedure done by Dr. Krongrad. My CPSI is now one from 38 before surgery. The debilitating pain and general weakness I had before surgery is total gone. I do not take any more antibiotics or Tramadol 50mg twice a day for prostate inflamation or pain because LRP took care of it. I am now back to running two miles every other day with out any urine stress incontinence. I have control of my bladder without urine leakage. Although… Continue

ONE MONTH AFTER LRP FOR CHRONIC PROSTATITIS ( UPDATE)

Today March 1, 2009 marked exactly one month after my laparoscopic radical prostatectomy for chronic prostatitis with Dr. Krongrad. I had LRP on 1/29/09 and foley catheter was removed on 2/10/09. Discontinuation of foley catheter was uneventfull although I had occassionally small blood tinged urine which has subsided. I am still having urine leakage especially when I have fully blader. I am still recovering and I feel I need more time to be 100% again. I take motrin 800mg once or twic a day for… Continue

FREE AT LAST……… This is exactly the best analogy of my Prostatitis ordeal.

My experience with Prostatitis has really been a journey with many turns. I felt that something was wrong in the summer of 1993 when all of a sudden I went to the bathroom and passed blood along with my urine. I went to the hospital emergency department (ED) and was treated for UTI and discharged. At that time, I do not have a clue about prostate concerns. In 2000, I had vasectomy done. In 2002 I was diagnosed with Prostatitis and BPH. At that time my PSA level was 2.0 and consequently my… Continue

Hey Ike!
So glad to read of your success... I am an ER RN and had to quit working the first week of May due to what I know feel is Chronic Non-bacterial Prostatits. I cant do anything anymore, and am at my wits end. I am soon to be 49. I will be contacting Dr Krongrad's office Tuesday morning and see about having this procedure done..
I have a feeling I have been living with this for over a decade, and blaming my low back for the back, pelvic, and testicle pain.. I was just able to function before with it (and lots of motrin), but now even the narcs are not relieving the pain...
Keep in touch, and best of luck to you!

Hello imnotcrazy, I am doing fantastic. My urine leakage after surgery has subsided tremendiously but my spontaneous erection is not yet back. My energy is back, no more debilitating pain. I am very much around. I have not disappeared just busy working, working.

Thanks for getting back to us IKE. Great to hear the pain (& cancer) is gone & continence restored. I am sure within 1-2 years from surgery your erections will be spontaneous again. Are you taking viagra or similar at the moment? I have read a low dose every couple of days can speed up recovery. 4 months in is still a short amount of time with regards to erectile function, and 30% at this stage is encouraging. I wish you a continuing success with your recovery.

There is also levitra & cialis. I have read they are all from the same class of drugs, but have different side effects therefore suit different men. I would be tempted to give both of these a try and see what the effects are. You may find one of them suits you better than viagra.

Good luck IKE.

Hi IKE. I read a story about a guy with a similar experience to you who reported a 25% erection in the first few months post LRP. He posted regularly on a cancer forum and kept others updated over 3 years. By 2 years he was having 80% erections and resumed a great sex life with his wife. He actually used the words "great orgasms". I wish I could find the link again. If I do I will post it.

Hello Mike,
I wish you good luck in your up coming surgery. I know you are in good hands. Remember that greater percentage of your surgical outcome depends on the surgeon.

Ike, I'm sorry for the late reply! I'm afraid I've no excuse - overlooked the comments section of the website. You had asked about me and my interest in prostatitis. It probably was a surprise to see a woman join this mostly male forum.

I am an insurance underwriter and risk manager and involved in medical solutions for modern problems. I create and manage risk solutions. My interest in prostatitis ranges widely, from concerned fellow human, my professional interests, to those of a caring woman. We're indirectly affected when the men in our lives become directly affected. I'm learning a lot, and may chime in from time to time on posts from one or more from the different perspectives I mentioned. Certainly if anyone seeks a woman's point of view, an underwriter's or risk manager's I welcome contact.

Thanks, Ike.

Lorna
