If you have been diagnosed with prostatitis, please tell us your story: age, duration of symptoms, treatments, results, and the like.
I had painful Kidney stone problems for a few months. They showed up on x-rays and imaging. I never actually passed stones so I guess they broke up before coming out or are still there and have stopped moving around. Right about the time the kidney stone pain stopped. I started having painful ejaculations with little or no semen. During all this I have lost over 40 pounds (most of it in the last month and have felt run down and weak. I am 6’-3” and went from 210 pounds to 167 #. It has been very hard to get up in mornings and don’t feel rested even after sleeping for 8 hours. After 4 weeks I went back to the Urologist and he said I had Prostatitis and sent me for CT scan. I have been fighting with my insurance company for last 10 days to get the authorization for the scan. He prescribed anti-biotics (Cypro) which seemed to help for the first 4 days (improved appetite and energy and the pain and discomfort eased up) but the last 5 days have gradually reverted back to the same state of being. The last week I have noticed translucent gel in my stool with some pinkness but not sure if it is blood or not. Pelvic / groin and back pain is getting worse. The pain is mostly dull except after ejaculation I don’t know if there is a link between the stones and the Prostatitis or not. I am getting depressed because of feeling bad so long and delays in diagnosis and treatment.. I have not had any problems urinating or had any pain associated with peeing and was wondering if the diagnosis still fits.

Bryan,

Welcome. Yes, pink is usually blood. Given the potential side effects of prolonged antibiotics, which include bowel irritation, one has to wonder if there is a connection between the antibiotics, weight loss, and pink stuff. There are not enough details in the report above to assess, but maybe thi is something your doctor(s) can review with you.

Sure, painful ejaculation is one of the signs typically seen with prostatitis, along with lower abdominal pain, perineal pain, dysfunctional urinary voiding, and the like. However, like headache, prostatitis is really a diagnosis of exclusion, so it's important to rule our such other possible problems as kidney stones (as you've started to do), back injuries, and the like.
