If you have been diagnosed with prostatitis, please tell us your story: age, duration of symptoms, treatments, results, and the like.
I have suffered from prostatitis for over 30 years ,I have consulted a telephone directory of doctors , urologists in two countries , have had at least a wheel barrow full of antibiotics prescribed over time and now at the great age of 67 I have worked out the insidious invader of my body system has been .CANDIDA ALBICANS !!

Whenever I would suggest this to any of the people I consulted they would raise an eyebrow put the head to one side and suggest that the schoolf of thought at present did not think candida could form in the prostate . Well after all these years and antibiotics enough to fill a pharmacy ,sorry drugstore, I applied the Sherlock Holmes principle i.e when you have eliminated ALL the possibilties whatever remains however improbable is the truth .So I went on to the Anti Candida sites on the net picked the most rigorous diet there and stayed on it for ,well this is the fifth week now ,I feel like I`ve been sexually reborn of course it is early days and I`ve had soo many setbacks with this cursed disease that I`m not claiming a miracle cure just yet but boy do I feel like I`m watching a wonderful sunrise!

Hi Henry,

Welcome to the prostatitis social network. I hope your approach works for you. Please keep us posted.

Candida is a fungus. We all have it on us. It tends to be pathological in one of two settings: 1) Lowered bacterial counts, as happens with prolonged use of antibiotics, and 2) Compromised immune systems, as can happen in such illnesses as AIDS.

Fungi certainly can cause problems in the prostate. As one recognition of this, see this story of prostate injections, which included anti-fungal medication.
